Updated June 2026 - I was recently invited back to shoot the new suites along with the pool again. Since the opening, the trees around the pool had grown, meaning updated photos were required. This is essential for hotels to keep their images up to date.
This project at Aviary Boutique Hotel Siem Reap covers two shoots: the original full set of hotel photography completed at opening, and a return visit in June 2026 to photograph the new suites and updated pool area. The trees around the pool had grown considerably since opening, which changed the light and feel of that space enough to warrant fresh images.
As a boutique hotel with a distinct urban identity, the focus across both shoots was on clean, natural imagery that reflects the character of the property and its appeal to international travellers.
Photographing a modern boutique hotel like Aviary Boutique Hotel Siem Reap requires an approach that reflects both design and atmosphere. The focus was on creating a set of images that highlight the hotel’s contemporary style, clean lines, and urban character, while remaining natural and true to the space.
Each area of the hotel was photographed with attention to light, layout, and balance, ensuring that rooms, public spaces, and outdoor areas feel inviting and easy to understand for potential guests. Particular care was taken to maintain consistency across the full set of images, so the hotel presents as a cohesive and well-defined property.
As a boutique hotel in Siem Reap, the goal was to capture not just the physical spaces, but the overall feel of the property, appealing to travellers looking for a modern and well-designed place to stay in the city.
This project covered the key areas of Aviary Boutique Hotel Siem Reap, including the rooftop pool, exterior, guest rooms, reception, and a range of interior detail shots that highlight the hotel’s design.
The rooftop pool was photographed to capture both the space itself and its elevated position within the city, while exterior images focus on the hotel’s modern architectural style and street presence. Guest rooms were presented with an emphasis on layout, light, and comfort, ensuring they feel clear and inviting to potential guests.
The reception and shared spaces were approached to reflect the hotel’s atmosphere on arrival, while detail photography was used to highlight the smaller design elements that give the property its distinct identity. These details play an important role in communicating the character of a modern boutique hotel and help set it apart visually.
Photographing an urban boutique hotel like Aviary Boutique Hotel Siem Reap comes with its own set of challenges, particularly when working within an active, guest-facing environment.
One of the key considerations was capturing the rooftop pool area without disruption, ensuring the space appeared calm and inviting. This required coordination with the hotel team to plan the timing carefully and allow for smooth execution during quieter periods. A similar approach was taken for the drone photography, where timing and conditions needed to align to achieve clean, unobstructed images of the property.
Guest rooms were also photographed with careful attention to natural light, ensuring each space was captured at the right time of day to achieve a soft, balanced look. This helps present the rooms in a way that feels both natural and appealing to potential guests.
Throughout the project, clear communication and planning were essential to ensure each area of the hotel was captured efficiently, while maintaining a consistent standard across the full set of images.
The new suites at Aviary Boutique Hotel have a open-plan layout that combines the bedroom, lounge, and bathroom in one connected space. Shooting this kind of room requires balancing the natural light coming through the full-height windows with the interior, and getting the angles right to show how the space flows without distorting the proportions. The teal and orange colour scheme, exposed bathroom, and the hand-painted bird wall art are details that set this property apart and needed to come through clearly in the images. This is the kind of boutique hotel interior photography that gives potential guests a genuine sense of the room before they book.
The final image set provides Aviary Boutique Hotel Siem Reap with a complete and versatile visual library, designed for use across both their website and booking platforms.
As a boutique hotel, strong visual presentation plays a key role in attracting guests, particularly on online travel agencies where first impressions are critical. The images are created to clearly communicate the layout, design, and atmosphere of the property, helping it stand out in a competitive market.
At the same time, the photography was designed to integrate seamlessly into the hotel’s own website, supporting a consistent and professional brand presence across all digital touchpoints.
By delivering a cohesive set of interiors, exteriors, pool, and detail imagery, the hotel is equipped with high-quality content that supports both direct bookings and wider online visibility.
This project reflects my approach to hotel photography in Siem Reap, working with both boutique hotels and larger properties to create images that align with their positioning and target audience.
The focus is on producing photography that works in real-world use, from hotel websites and booking platforms to wider marketing materials. Each image is designed to clearly present the property, while also capturing the atmosphere and character that guests are looking for when choosing where to stay in Siem Reap.
If you are looking for a hotel photographer in Siem Reap or across Cambodia, the goal is simple: to create images that present your property clearly, attract the right audience, and support stronger booking performance.
This return visit to Aviary Boutique Hotel added a substantial set of new hotel photography to the portfolio. The shoot covered three newly completed suites, each with a distinct interior design and colour scheme, the hotel bar, and both pool areas. For hotels in Siem Reap, keeping photography current is important as the property evolves. The lower pool was reshot because the mature trees have changed the light and character of the space since opening. The rooftop pool was captured by drone, giving an aerial perspective of the hotel grounds that works well for both the hotel’s own marketing and for travel platforms where standout imagery drives bookings.
A selection of images from the Aviary hotel in Siem Reap project in 2019, covering guest rooms, bathrooms, rooftop spaces, dining areas, and key public areas across the hotel.
This project reflects a broader approach to hospitality photography, where the Aviary also had a restaurant they were opening, and needed to create a complete set of images that support hotel’s marketing needs.
This required some lifestyle and restaurant photography for Fumizen restaurant, next door to the Aviary.
From interiors and architectural photography to lifestyle photography and detailed shots of key areas, a versatile hospitality photographer can save you time and give a cohesive look over your brand imagery. Whilst some photographers produce one kind of photography, I’m able to provide everything necessary for marketing your brand in the hotel industry.
I produce content for websites, booking platforms, and social media, ensuring a consistent and effective visual presence across all channels.
Alongside hospitality photography, this approach often extends to areas such as food photography, product photography, and brand imagery, allowing hotels to build a complete and cohesive visual identity.
