Hotel & Resort Photographer in Cambodia – Komsan Kampot Case Study
Komsan Kampot Resort is a riverside property in southern Cambodia, designed around space, nature, and relaxed guest experiences. Following the expansion of the resort, I was commissioned to capture a complete set of updated imagery to support their marketing across booking platforms, website, and social media.
This project involved a full scope of hotel and resort photography in Cambodia, covering interiors, exteriors, food, and lifestyle. The objective was to create a cohesive visual identity that reflects not just the physical spaces, but the overall guest experience — from quiet mornings overlooking the river to active moments across the property.
By combining architectural photography with natural lifestyle imagery, the final image set provides the resort with versatile, high-quality content designed to attract and convert guests, while maintaining a consistent and professional visual standard.
Resort Room & Interior Photography
The resort’s rooms were photographed with a focus on clarity, comfort, and consistency across all spaces. Each room was captured to highlight layout, design, and key selling points such as natural light, materials, and views.
Careful attention was given to composition, styling, and perspective to ensure the images feel clean and professional while remaining natural and inviting. Subtle lifestyle elements were introduced where appropriate to enhance the sense of space without distracting from the room itself.
This approach ensures the final images are highly effective across booking platforms, where strong, well-executed room photography is essential for driving conversions and setting guest expectations.
Resort Grounds & Environment Photography
A key part of the project was capturing the overall atmosphere and setting of the resort. Located along the river in Kampot, the property is designed around open space, greenery, and a connection to its natural surroundings.
The approach focused on showcasing the flow of the resort — from pathways and outdoor areas to communal spaces and riverfront views. Timing and lighting were carefully considered to highlight the environment at its best, creating images that feel calm, inviting, and true to the guest experience.
These wider, environmental shots play an important role in hospitality marketing, helping potential guests understand the layout, setting, and overall feel of the property before they arrive.
Lifestyle & Guest Experience Photography
Beyond the physical spaces, a key focus of this shoot was capturing how guests experience the resort. Lifestyle photography plays an essential role in hospitality marketing, helping potential guests visualise their stay before they arrive.
Across the property, moments were captured that reflect both relaxation and activity — from families enjoying the pool and children’s play areas, to guests using the kayaks and spending time along the river. These natural, unposed interactions help communicate the atmosphere of the resort in a way that static images alone cannot.
The goal is always to create imagery that feels genuine and immersive, while still maintaining a high level of visual consistency. By combining candid moments with careful composition and timing, the final images give the resort a strong set of assets for use across websites, social media, and booking platforms.
For hotels and resorts, this type of content is critical — not only to showcase facilities, but to sell the experience itself.
Facilities & Family-Friendly Experiences
In addition to core resort areas, the shoot also focused on capturing the property’s recreational facilities and family-friendly spaces. These elements play an important role in how resorts position themselves, particularly for guests travelling with children or looking for a more activity-based stay.
Facilities such as the mini golf course and playground were photographed in use, with a focus on real interactions and natural moments. Capturing children actively engaging with these spaces helps communicate the energy and accessibility of the resort, while adding a human element that static facility images often lack.
This approach ensures the imagery reflects not just the availability of these features, but how they are experienced by guests. It also provides the resort with versatile content that appeals to a wider audience, particularly families and group travellers.
Including this type of photography as part of a wider hotel and resort shoot allows for a more complete visual story — one that goes beyond rooms and architecture to showcase the full range of what a property offers.
Food & Dining Photography
Food and dining are a key part of the guest experience, and strong visual presentation plays a critical role in attracting bookings and enhancing a resort’s brand image. As part of this project, a series of food and beverage images were created to showcase the resort’s dining offering in a clean, vibrant, and appealing way.
Each dish was photographed with a focus on natural light, colour, and texture, ensuring the food feels fresh and inviting while remaining true to its presentation. Composition and styling were kept consistent with the overall visual identity of the resort, allowing the images to integrate seamlessly across menus, websites, and marketing materials.
In addition to individual dishes, wider shots of the dining environment were captured to highlight the setting — from relaxed riverside meals to open-air restaurant spaces. This combination of detail and atmosphere helps communicate not just the food itself, but the full dining experience.
For hotels and resorts, high-quality food photography is essential — influencing guest perception, supporting F&B marketing, and adding another layer to the overall brand story.

Restaurant & Bar Photography
The restaurant and bar areas at Waka Villa were photographed to reflect the overall atmosphere of the property, maintaining consistency with the villa and outdoor imagery. For boutique hotels in Siem Reap, these spaces are an important part of the guest experience, often influencing how guests perceive the property as a whole.
The focus was on capturing the layout, materials, and lighting in a way that feels natural and inviting. Composition was carefully considered to show how guests move through the space, while ensuring that each image works both as a standalone shot and as part of a wider visual set.
Lighting was balanced to retain warmth and depth, avoiding overly artificial results while still maintaining clarity and detail. This ensures the images translate well across hotel websites, social media, and booking platforms.
As part of hotel photography in Cambodia, presenting restaurant and bar spaces effectively helps reinforce the overall quality and positioning of the property.
