La Rivière d’Angkor is a boutique hotel located along the Siem Reap River, just a short walk from the city’s markets, restaurants and nightlife. Ahead of the hotel’s relaunch, I was commissioned to produce a complete library of professional photography showcasing every aspect of the guest experience.
Over several days, I photographed the guest rooms, suites, restaurant, swimming pool, architecture, gardens, staff, food and drink, and lifestyle imagery throughout the property. The resulting collection provides the hotel with a versatile image library for its website, booking platforms, social media and marketing materials.
When guests choose a hotel, they’re looking for more than just a comfortable room. They want to picture themselves staying there.
That’s why successful hotel photography tells the story of the entire property, from the first impression at reception to breakfast in the restaurant, an afternoon by the pool and a peaceful night’s sleep.
For La Rivière d’Angkor, the photography included:
Together, these images create a consistent visual presentation that can be used across every stage of the guest’s booking journey.
The restored colonial villa is at the heart of La Rivière d’Angkor’s identity.
Rather than treating it simply as another building, I wanted the photography to celebrate its craftsmanship, proportions and timeless elegance. From wooden shutters and tiled walkways to antique furnishings and soft natural light, every detail contributes to the hotel’s unique atmosphere.
These architectural details help tell the story of the property and give guests a sense of place before they even arrive.
Guest rooms are often the deciding factor when travellers compare hotels online.
Each room was carefully prepared before photographing, with attention given to lighting, composition and styling to create inviting, natural images that accurately represent the accommodation.
Rather than relying on exaggerated wide-angle perspectives, I aim to produce photographs that feel bright, spacious and authentic, helping potential guests understand exactly what they can expect during their stay.
The restaurant is a natural extension of the hotel itself.
Its relaxed setting and carefully prepared dishes reflect the same attention to detail found throughout the property, so it was important that the photography carried that feeling through to every image.
Rather than producing highly stylised food photography, I focused on creating photographs that felt warm, inviting and authentic. The result is a collection of images that complements the character of the hotel while showcasing the quality of its dining experience.

A spa should feel peaceful before a guest even walks through the door, and the photography plays an important role in creating that first impression.
For La Rivière d’Angkor, I photographed the spa’s treatment rooms, therapists and carefully prepared surroundings to reflect the calm, welcoming atmosphere guests can expect during their visit. Rather than relying on heavily styled imagery, I focused on natural light, authentic moments and the small details that make the experience feel personal.
These photographs help communicate the hotel’s commitment to relaxation and wellbeing while providing versatile imagery for the website, social media and future marketing.

Alongside photographing La Rivière d’Angkor, I also designed and developed the hotel’s new website through Exposure Creative. Working on both projects together allowed the photography to be planned with its final purpose in mind, creating a more cohesive online experience while ensuring every image supported the layout, content and overall presentation of the hotel.
Understanding how photography is ultimately used within a hotel website influences the way I approach every project. Rather than simply creating attractive images, I aim to produce a collection of photography that helps tell the story of a property, guides visitors through the website and gives potential guests the confidence to book.

Whether you’re opening a boutique hotel, renovating an established property or simply refreshing your photography, I believe every hotel deserves images that reflect its own character rather than following a formula.
Based in Siem Reap, I work with hotels, resorts, restaurants and hospitality businesses across Cambodia, creating photography that captures not only the spaces themselves, but the experience of staying there.
If you’d like to discuss a hospitality photography project, I’d be delighted to hear from you.
