Authentic Food and Beverage Photography for Phnom Penh’s Dining Scene
This recent food photography project took place in the heart of Phnom Penh, where I worked with Hops Brewery and Chew and Bash to create a versatile set of images highlighting their new menus, cocktails, and dining atmosphere.
As a food photographer in Phnom Penh, my goal was to produce images that feel authentic, fresh, and true to each venue’s brand — from authentic german comfort food to vibrant rooftop cocktails overlooking the river.
Hops Brewery — Authentic German Food and Craft Beer
Located near Independence Monument, Hops Brewery is one of Phnom Penh’s most respected German breweries, serving a combination of authentic German dishes and house-brewed craft beers.
The objective was to produce a collection of images that conveyed the warmth, craftsmanship, and hearty appeal of their cuisine. We photographed signature dishes paired with freshly poured glasses of German beer brewed on-site.
To complement the rustic feel of the menu, we incorporated natural indoor greenery and warm wood tones as backdrops. This created a welcoming, casual dining atmosphere that feels both authentic and approachable.
For menu and marketing flexibility, we also captured several dishes on plain white backgrounds — ideal for use in print, digital menus, and delivery platforms where clean, consistent visuals are essential.
Chew and Bash — Rooftop Cocktails with City Views
The second location, Chew and Bash, offers a completely different experience: a modern rooftop bar overlooking the Tonle Sap River. Our focus here was on cocktail photography — colorful, vibrant drinks styled with fresh fruit and glassware that reflect the bar’s lively and social personality.
We captured both bright daytime and moody nighttime shots, using Phnom Penh’s skyline as a backdrop to showcase the venue’s city vibe. The result was a series of images that blend atmosphere, color, and creativity — perfect for social media and promotional campaigns.
La Croisette — Styled Cocktail Photography on the Riverside
At the last minute, we added a third location: La Croisette, one of Phnom Penh’s long-standing riverside venues. The goal here was to capture styled cocktail shots that felt refined and refreshing while staying true to the venue’s character.
Working with minimal prep time, I had to adapt quickly — adjusting lighting setups and styling on location to achieve consistency with the earlier shoots. We focused on glass clarity, garnish detail, and subtle reflections to give each drink a crisp, premium look suitable for marketing, print, and digital menus.
Despite being added on short notice, this session resulted in some of the most striking cocktail photography of the project—combining precise lighting control with a clean, versatile style that can be used across menus, marketing, and social media.
Flexible, High-Quality Food Photography in Phnom Penh
This three-venue project — spanning Hops Brewery, Chew and Bash, and La Croisette — demonstrates the flexibility and adaptability required in professional food and beverage photography. Each venue had its own atmosphere, lighting challenges, and brand personality, but the final collection maintained a consistent visual style: bright, modern, and commercially effective.
With over a decade of experience in food, restaurant, and hospitality photography in Phnom Penh and across Cambodia, I specialize in producing images that not only look beautiful but also drive real results — helping restaurants and hotels strengthen their brand, attract more guests, and stand out online.
If your venue is launching a new menu, rebranding, or preparing for high season, I’d be happy to discuss a tailored food photography package designed around your goals.
